Marta Kober plays the sexy young counselor in training, Sandra, in Friday the 13th Part
She’s the young lady who gets impaled along with her boyfriend, Jeff, while they are making the sign of the doublebacked mud weasel in the the bed on the second floor of the camp house.
Marta Kober is lovely and is a bit on an enigma to me. I’ve never seen her in anything else, she didn’t participate in the making of Crystal Lake Memories or in the documentary, His Name Was Jason. Her IMDB biography consists of this one sentence:
In 1993, under the name Marta Scorsese, performed in the musical group “The Bomb.”
Where the heck is this chick? I’ve had the biggest crush on her since I first laid eyes on her in Friday the 13th Part 2. My infatuation was reignited this afternoon while I was watching my ration of trash cinema and I popped in School Spirit.
School Spirit is a campy Roger Corman comedy where this guy is about to have sex with this girl he really likes but can’t find his condom so he drives to the drug store, gets hit by an car on the way back, and spends the rest of the film as a ghost.
It’s trash cinema at it’s cheesiest. He uses his powers to peep on girls and make fools out of the preppy guys. It all seem rather predictable until our lead character goes over to the home of his flame. And who is lounging by the pool in her bikini? I had to rub my eyes and do a double take. I couldn’t believe it.
MARTA KOBER! There she is! Now, in the only other movie I’ve ever seen her in! And she has pretty substantial role here. Unfortunately, just like in Friday the 13th Part 2, Marta keeps her sweater puppies bundled up. But MAN, does she like to flaunt them.
She’s as cute and sexy as ever in this flick with a lot more screen time than in Friday 2. Her voice is still a little breathy, she plays a bit of a bone head but she spends about 1/3 of her screen time dancing her little heart out. It’s Marta in all her glory. Where has she been? I want to know what she’s been up to and how she feels about her legacy with the Friday the 13th series. Hell, her character was so memorable they brought her brother into the fold, Rob in Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter, to avenge her death! She had one of the coolest deaths in the series and filled her role out like none other with all natural awesome!
There’s a terrible rumor going around the web that Marta was arrested for squatting in an apartment and stealing her neighbor’s mail.
Another source said that the gang who put together His Name Was Jason tried to contact Marta but could only reach her family. They said she’d gone missing and they have no idea where she is.
We miss you, Marta! Drop us a line sometime and let us know how you’re doing and what you’re up to! Please, dispel these rumors! We all hope you’re doing well.

I know Marta and her mom from attending synagogue in Queens where my dad was cantor. We went out once. But she’s left a mark on me that remains to this day. Did you ever find out more on Marta Kober,or was Oregon the last news?
Oregon was the last news we received. However, I did get a phone number from someone claiming to be Marta. Not sure how to proceed. I feel as if this information should be turned over to family but I have no contact information.
Marta was my girl friend during the times of School Spirit, Vendetta and Neon maniacs. She was a wonderful person and I am deeply saddened by her plight.I would like to help her if she might allow it. I hope I might be given the chance.

Met Marta at club called Lucky Strikes back in 1994. We went on a few dates and then remained friends for a short period of time. Both of us were traveling in pretty rough circles at the time. Lot of drinking, lot of drugs and a lot of unsavory people.
I got sober in early 1995 and we lost touch with her. She’s a great girl and I wish I could say she was headed down a good path last we saw each other. Unfortunately that’s not the case. 😦
If by chance anyone does track her down, I would love to know how she’s doing. And I hope it’s good news.
I too have been trying to track down Marta. I have always been a fan of hers and wish there was something I could do to help. So sad hearing all the rumours.
Her family and other friends and fans have contacted the friends she was living with when she went missing. They said that one day she left without saying a word and never came back. Kind of creepy. No one knows how to get ahold of her.
A guy I know who works at the Westside Rentals office here in Hollywood said “a dishelved looking woman by that name came in to ask about finding a place to live. She looked like a meth addict. When she found out how much our buildings are she left in a huff, said she could make that much on the corner and said she’d be back in a few hours. She never returned.”
Sounds like she is not doing too well. If anyone has any info, please let us know. It seems like there are alot of people who want to help her.
Marta was very talented and it’s a shame her career never took off the way it should. I am also an actor and casting director in Hollywood and I have seen first hand how brutal this business can be and how it is very easy for people to get mixed up with the wrong crowd.
Today Marta Kober came into Powells book store in Portland Oregon inquiring about a job. She was disheveled and appeared to be homeless. She handed a coworker of mine a resume scrawled in pencil and seemed incoherent. Kober’s resume included some of her acting jobs and this sparked my coworkers curiosity to google her name to see if there might be some validity to her past history. lo and behold it turned out to be true. I did a bit of internet research and it sounds as if her friends and family don’t know her whereabouts. Since this blog appears to be active with people who know Kober personally I was hoping someone could contact her immediate family with this information. I’ll post again if I have any more information.
Marta is still alive but a total mess. She has definitely lost her mind and may even be living on the streets. For those who need to know, she is currently in Portland, Oregon. She strolled into my workplace looking for a job and actually filled out an application. She was talking total nonsense like a crazy person. Its really quite sad. I hope someone out there/family has the ability to help her!
She lives in Portland now. A pal who works at a bookstore here said she came in today “looking for a job and muttering about grammys, living inside of kurt cobain and having a basketball team entourage… she also had shit stains on her sweatpants”. He eventually recognized her as Marta Kober.
So, uh, if anyone would like to help her out, you know the place.

Oh my God. I just saw her photo on the police website. That broke my heart. So sad to hear. Well at least her family now knows that she somehow made it to Portland. Hopefully they will be able to get up there and get her some help. I will be praying for her and hope that she gets off the streets. Thank you for updating us.
Marta has a cousin who lives in California. Does anyone know how to get in contact with him? He used to have a youtube account but it’s been closed down. He needs to know how she’s doing because I know he was very worried about her.

I went to acting school with Marta back in the late 1970’s at NYU. Yours is the most recnt post I could find on her. Is she in jail in Portland? I would appreciate any info you have.

Kevin (Primalroot) Don’t mean to be a pain…but Marta and I were close for many years. I traveled with her and family to Tahiti back in the 70’s. We lived together while attending Strasberg at NYU. I’m not a Horror Movie/celebrity stalker….I’m an old friend who got this info from a mutual friend of Marta’s who just happened to Google her the other day. Since then I have been trying to find and help her. The last time I saw her was at Gotham Bar and Grill in Manhattan in the early 1990’s. Since I found this blog you are the only one who seems to have any info. When I get home tonight I will look up Fred Kobers phone (Martas Dad) and send it to you. This way if you don’t want to give me any info as you don’t know me, at least they will get the info. She has fallen a long way since we were together. Please at least mention my name if you happen to see or here from her.

I did a google search for her a few weeks ago and came across a craigslist personal ad she had put up with her name in it, the location was Hawaii. She also listed a phone number… The phone number was listed for Hawaii as well and was registered to a P Kober. Its amazing what you can find on google. Hopefully she has made it back to some relatives to get some help perhaps?
I tried looking up the ad again but its no longer posted. Hopefully she will repost again soon. Ill report with more info if i find anything.

Glad to hear that it sounds she is doing well. Perhaps she has finally been able to conquer her demons. I am really hopeful that her story has a happy ending.
If the craigslist ad was posted from Hawaii it is most likely hers. Heard from a friend of Marta’s family that her family was living there. I did hear though that her mother had passed away a few years ago.

Was just on the monstermania.net website and both her and Bill Randolph are gonna be at the convention during the Aug 20-22nd weekend in New Jersey. Damn, if only I didn’t have a show here in Hollywood that weekend I’d go and get an autograph. She’s always been my favorite Friday girl. Very happy that it looks like she’s doing better. Maybe we’ll see an acting comeback from her. She is/was very talented.

This is all stalking. If she wanted any of you to know where she was she would be in contact with you. She is VERY AFRAID of someone or something!!! (think it has to do with the porn movies she had been doing in recent years-she googled one for me to watch, which showed an LA cop KILLING A WOMAN!!! She claimed it was her good friend & it’s true…)

I had a drink with her at the town lounge in Chico CA last night.
Marta, it’s Krista…Cabana Cafe, Cowboy Bar, NYC…back in the day. You were one of my first friends when I moved there. Hope you’re well sister. Recently, moved to LA. Think of you a lot. Hope all is well. Look me up if you ever have the time.
Marta friended me on Facebook. We have a mutual friend, Tom Fridley, Cort from part 6. It’s her because when she posts on Facebook it’s the same wording/ramblings as her interviews. According to something she said to Bill Randolph, which I saw, she won’t be doing anymore conventions this year because she is three months pregnant and has a live-in partner. Also I saw this comment posted on an interview she did at the last convention. Apparently a friend of hers said that she was only 17 when she filmed part 2 and afterwards she called him from a bus station in Conneticut. He said she was shaking and had talked about how the producers of the film had abused her. He also said that he ran into Marta in the late 90s out here in Hollywood at an AA meeting and that at that time she was basically homeless and kept her belongings in a soiled bag. He said when he saw her she told him she had changed her named to Cherry and then showed him the cherry tattoo she has above her breasts.
Back in the day teenage girls were jumping at a chance for a role in the movies. They didn’t even have agents and sadly producers/directors took advantage of them. Most people don’t realize the amount of clout movie producers have when they during the filming. For ex. in Friday the 13th part 2, not only were streets shut down by police and businesses paid to close up, even the torrential rain was provided by the fire dept.
I hitchhiked with Marta last week on the Oregon Coast to Newport. She was a total blast but going a mile a minute in a million different directions. If it wasnt for her I’d have been stuck in the rain all night. Marta, if you see this thanks for everything! You were right, if I googled your name I’d find a ton of shit!

I knew and worked with Marta (at Cocola restaurant and bar) back in the late 80s and adored her. We had a lot of great times and had several mutual friends. She grew up with Robert Downey, Jr. and he was an old boyfriend of hers. One night he came in at the time we both worked together at Cocola and I waited on him and his party. Marta was off work that evening and I let him know she worked there. He was quite nice and we talked about Marta away from his friends. It’s clear EVERYONE loved Marta. I’m so glad she is doing better in her life and appreciate this site for letting me know. I’ll pass along the good news to my friends who also knew her back then.
I met her for the first time in indiana or illinois gave her som money cause it seemed like the right thing to do. she is the one who told me how to find this site. so im not going to betray her confidence. but for any grieving family and honest friends she looked healthy and when I last talked to her by ph she was in my home state. So she is alive still pretty and seemed full of energy.
Marta told me she now has a PR agent for personal appearances. I’m familiar with them. It’s a very reputable firm in Pennsylvania I believe who just do bookings for horror conventions and represent some high profile people. So maybe this means fans will have more opps to meet her or possibly she is over her demons and may be trying for a comeback?

Marta is completely shot out on methamphetamines, and supports herself by prostitution while travelling up and down the Oregon coast. I got to know her for a few months a couple years ago, and see her occasionally. She is almost always dirty, dishevelled, and talking to herself. Quite sad…
So heartbreaking to hear that Scott. She was very beautiful and had talent. It’s sad that whatever demons, choices, choice of friends, etc led her to this. It’s sad to see some of the behind the scenes pics from Friday the 13th part 2 with her looking happy and full of life and then to see the photos of her now.

Saw her a few days ago while watching Friday the 13th part 2 and developed a crush on her immediately when I first laid eyes on her too bad she is in a bad way right now it’s a sad thing to see.
I saw on YouTube a while back a cast reunion at a horror convention and Marta Kober was sitting on stage with the cast answering questions. Sadly, she seems a bit brain damaged from drugs use or something. She acted very strange, made weird outbursts and seemed very mentally unbalanced. I don’t have direct reference to the video but I’m sure you can still find it on YouTube if you search for it.
